Michigan State has a close game and barley beats the weaker team in Minnesota. MSU offensively was still impressive, QB Kirk Cousins threw 23 of 34 for 296 yards and 2 touchdowns. I still continue to believe he is a x factor for this team. They win when he plays well. However the Spartans running game still is inconsistent, they were only able to rush for 106 rushing yards. Michigan lost to Iowa 24-16. They waited until last minute to play hard and try to win. Iowa defense did a good job of stopping the run, holding UM to 127 rushing yards. More than anything they did a good job of slowing down Michigan QB Denard Robinson who was held to 55 yards rushing on 12 carries. Speaking of QB Denard Robinson, he threw the ball a lot more in this game, but passing wise still struggled. He threw 17 of 37 for 194 yards, 2 touchdowns and an interception. While he made some good throws, he still made some bad throws and threw into tight spots which forced a turnover. (more…)
Michigan State coming off a miracle win against Wisconsin was suddenly this great team but you know what, they aren’t. They are still the same old over hyped Spartans that don’t live up to standards. I have to say I’m not surprised they did the same thing last season. They beat Wisconsin then went to Iowa and got their tail handed to them but I will not say “I told you so.” MSU once again could not function offensively through the running game or passing game. What is worse is they weren’t even able to score a touchdown and were lucky to get a field goal. (more…)
Michigan Wolverines came off a bye week, they suffered a loss to MSU last game and I’m happy to see that the bye week got them focused and ready to play Purdue. They literally destroyed the Boilermakers. While I’m happy about the win; technically it’s to be expected. Purdue is the weaker team and U of M is supposed to slaughter them. I was impressed with how UM established the running game without QB Denard Robinson leading them in rushing. I have been constantly saying UM has good enough running backs to the point where Denard Robinson should not be the leading rusher every game with more carries than the Running Backs combined. Michigan State finally won a big game and not only that, they beat a good ranked opponent. Michigan didn’t count… So, congratulations. Now as great of a game as that was, I still saw things about MSU that concern me. I’ll start off with the good; I was once again impressed with QB Kirk Cousins, who I believe was an X Factor in this game. He threw 22 of 31 for 290 yards and 3 touchdowns. He had impressive game, which was very influential in his team winning. MSU’s running game was decent in that game; they combined for 109 yards, which is not up to their usual standard but nonetheless, still a decent running game. (more…)
Michigan inconsistent game play finally cost the them. I have constantly been saying the Wolverines were to highly rank and that they aren’t as good as their record says. Now first let me say, this was not an upset, MSU is technically the better team as far as players, playmakers, defense, etc. The Spartans were supposed to win the game, so I don’t consider this an upset.
Offensively U of M struggled throughout the entire game and it started with QB Denard Robinson who threw 9 of 24. He was only able to complete 37% of his passes. Robinson can’t continue to have these horrible passer ratings if U of M is going to be truly successful. He was also shut down running wise, which proves that he can’t always make plays on the ground either. Denard Robinson is not a true QB. He is not accurate. He doesn’t have strong arm and doesn’t make good decisions. The rest of UM’s running game was also nonexistent as well. Back up QB Devin Gardner even received an opportunity to show his skills and did decent, he did however miss a couple wide open receivers but I believe that is due to his lack of playing time in live game situations. Michigan State defeated Ohio State 10 to 7. Some will say MSU finally beat Ohio State, some would say this is a good win for them, but I say it’s not a good win nor is it an impressive win. Michigan State once again showed me that when they play good teams, they struggle. Now they have a total of 321 yards. One thing that bothers me with that statistic is MSU only rushed for 71 yards, which means that once again they’re running game was non effective against a good defense. Let’s be honest MSU can’t truly succeed without a consistent running game. I will however give credit to OSU defense for doing a great job of keeping their team in the game. (more…)
Michigan defeated Minnesota 58 to 0 but I’m not impressed with the win, I am however impressed with how they won. First off, rushing wise I was very impressed, they had a total of 363 yards rushing . They were spread very well between all the running backs and even the quarterbacks. The star of the game was RB Vincent Smith, who had touchdown score by rushing, passing and receiving; he is the first FBS running back to do that since C.J. Spiller (Clemson) on 11/14/09. (more…)

Michigan State beat Central Michigan 45 to 7. Basically the Spartans did what they were supposed to, they beat the weaker team. Time to move on to next week’s game; they have an upcoming game against Ohio State. Now Ohio State also bounced back from their lost to Miami by defeating Colorado on Saturday. I assume this will be a good game; one thing I am interested to see is how both teams do running the football. Considering Michigan State has a total 573 rushing yards so far this season and Ohio State has a total of 736 rushing yards. Both are reliant on the ground game however Michigan State has somewhat the upper hand in the passing game. Ohio State QB situation will be the big issue in this game. QB Braxton Miller did well against Colorado, does lack experience but has proven to be consistent so far. On the other hand, Will they go with the Senior QB Joe Bauserman who also lacks experience considering he was behind previous QB Terelle Pryor his whole career. He also has not shown any accurate consistency. I want to see how both teams defend the run as well as the pass. Defense is my X Factor for this game, I know both teams have talent on offense and can score, but can both teams show up on defense.
