Michigan inconsistent game play finally cost the them. I have constantly been saying the Wolverines were to highly rank and that they aren’t as good as their record says. Now first let me say, this was not an upset, MSU is technically the better team as far as players, playmakers, defense, etc. The Spartans were supposed to win the game, so I don’t consider this an upset.

Offensively U of M struggled throughout the entire game and it started with QB Denard Robinson who threw 9 of 24. He was only able to complete 37% of his passes. Robinson can’t continue to have these horrible passer ratings if U of M is going to be truly successful. He was also shut down running wise, which proves that he can’t always make plays on the ground either. Denard Robinson is not a true QB. He is not accurate. He doesn’t have strong arm and doesn’t make good decisions. The rest of UM’s running game was also nonexistent as well. Back up QB Devin Gardner even received an opportunity to show his skills and did decent, he did however miss a couple wide open receivers but I believe that is due to his lack of playing time in live game situations. (more…)

Michigan State beat Central Michigan 45 to 7. Basically the Spartans did what they were supposed to, they beat the weaker team. Time to move on to next week’s game; they have an upcoming game against Ohio State. Now Ohio State also bounced back from their lost to Miami by defeating Colorado on Saturday. I assume this will be a good game; one thing I am interested to see is how both teams do running the football. Considering Michigan State has a total 573 rushing yards so far this season and Ohio State has a total of 736 rushing yards. Both are reliant on the ground game however Michigan State has somewhat the upper hand in the passing game. Ohio State QB situation will be the big issue in this game. QB Braxton Miller did well against Colorado, does lack experience but has proven to be consistent so far. On the other hand, Will they go with the Senior QB Joe Bauserman who also lacks experience considering he was behind previous QB Terelle Pryor his whole career. He also has not shown any accurate consistency. I want to see how both teams defend the run as well as the pass. Defense is my X Factor for this game, I know both teams have talent on offense and can score, but can both teams show up on defense.

To Michigan State University, all I have to say is, this is not Cupcake City anymore. They played Youngstown St & Florida Atlantic who didn’t challenge them! Against Notre Dame, MSU was truly exposed in the running game, as well as the passing game. Offensively QB Kirk Cousins was a huge disappointment; he did not make plays at all & played scared. In Cousins defense i will say MSU offensive line was inconsistent in protecting him & because of that MSU running game was also shut down. Notre Dame was on a mission to get a win, which they desperately needed! They could not lose another game! Their defense did a good job of stopping MSU running game, but I was most impressed with the defense movement  causing confusion for MSU! Offensively QB Tommy Rese struggled but at the end of the game calmed his nerves and started making the right reads. MSU will be playing Central Michigan this Saturday and they need to be careful, because just like them, Central Michigan is looking for a win, after their huge lost to Western Michigan.
