Off the field issues can prevent players from playing on Sunday. This falls on the players, coaches and front office. No one is exempt from this.
Penalties are drive killers and game changers. I’m not referring to boarder line calls. The flags before, durning and after plays have given the Lions a reputation. It has been said that football is 80% mental and this is where Jim Schwartz and the veteran players need to take a stand. Aaron Berry and Johnny Culbreath are two players that have had off the field issues and have been released.

At the halfway mark the Detroit Lions are 6-2. Regardless of how good you think this team may be, they have matched there win total of last season. There are still eight games to be played for the Lions and most other teams, but the first half is in the past. So break out you preseason prediction sheets and see how well you know this team. Once again the Lions show up on the road late to the game. The issue that I have now is that people count the amount of wins of the teams that the Lions have defeated. Let’s start from the top. The Bucs would be undefeated if not for the Lions (4-0). The Chiefs would have be at .500 currently if not for the Lions(2-2). The Vikings would have there only victory if not for the Lions (1-3). And finally the Cowboys would be 3-1 if not for the Lions. Count them up. If the Lions were the 0-4, which would be the norm, team verses them would have a total of 10 wins. Some just can’t handle success & Detroit in the same sentence. Let alone Lions. (more…)
