I don’t know how many times I have to say this but the Lions are not the same team, this is a new team, with the will to never give up. The Lions once again this week made an amazing comeback to defeat the Cowboys 34 to 30. I must say early in this game, the Lions were pissing off, but once again at halftime they made adjustments and were able to come away with the win. I will say the main reason the Lions won this game was because of the defense, there is no doubt about it. People can say the offense did well in the end but let’s be honest, if the defense doesn’t make those key interceptions, the Lions probably don’t win the game.  I have to give credit to LB Bobby Carpenter who changed momentum with his interception returned for a touchdown. Then CB Chris Houston got in on the action.  The second biggest moment swing has to go to LB Stephen Tulloch who had 11 tackles and made the key interception with 4 minutes left, which set up our scoring drive that won the Lions the game. I have to give credit to QB Matthew Stafford who had a rough start but once again made the key reads and passes to help win the game. Let me say this, right now for everyone to hear, there is no longer any doubt that WR Calvin Johnson is the best Wide Receiver in the NFL! No doubt at all! I said earlier Lions don’t win the game without those great defensive plays but Lions also don’t win without Calvin Johnson! No question about it! Johnson has always been a Top 5 receiver to me. Recently some people including Hall of Fame WR Chris Carter did not give him credit and even said he was a joke and shouldn’t even be considered a top receiver. So to anyone who doesn’t believe Megatron isn’t a Top 5 receiver, then you honestly just don’t know anything about football, or talent. Lastly I would like to say as proud and impressed as I am with the Lions, they cannot continue to play one good half of football and think they will be able to come back win. They have to be able to play 60 minutes of football against good teams, or the Lions can’t truly succeed. The Lions have their Monday Night Game against the Bears. This is going to be a tough game defensively and offensively for the Lions, the Bears are going to truly challenge the Lions to compete for 60 minutes but I’m very anxious to see this game!

I stated that this game would be a great test for the Lions, not because it was a road game or because it was against a divisional opponent. More because the Vikings have an offense that puts more pressure on the defense to get stops and they have a good defensive line that can put pressure on the QB. I’m proud to say that this game did truly prove that the Lions are not the same old Lions. I was impressed with how the Lions held RB Adrian Peterson to 78 yards. We also did a good job of pressuring QB Donovan McNabb. Offensively I was impressed with the rookie WR Titus Young who once again made great key catches to help us win. Lastly I was impressed with QB Matt Stafford, who stayed so calm and led his team back with the great help of WR Calvin Johnson. Heading into next week against the Dallas Cowboys we need to be concerned with LB Demarcus Ware who has been good this season at getting to the Quarterback. Against the Vikings, Lions allowed QB Matthew Stafford to get hit 9 times, that can’t continue to happen. Lion’s secondary coverage needs to be ready for WR Miles Austin (if he plays) , WR Dez Bryant and TE Jason Witten who have great hands and speed. The key for the Lions will be to put pressure on the Cowboy’s inconsistent offensive line and force QB Tony Romo to make bad decisions.

We will take a look around the NFL to see what coaches are in the hot-seat.

Mike Singletary

San Francisco 49ers Record 4-7

This team was expected to easily win the NFC West. Singletary has been head coach for a full 2 years now. He may have a little time to get things going but they should not be struggling in this weak division. His seat is heating up. Singletary still has a shot at winning the division and still making the playoffs but it may be with a losing record or at best .500. (more…)
