Michigan lost to Iowa 24-16. They waited until last minute to play hard and try to win. Iowa defense did a good job of stopping the run, holding UM to 127 rushing yards. More than anything they did a good job of slowing down Michigan QB Denard Robinson who was held to 55 yards rushing on 12 carries. Speaking of QB Denard Robinson, he threw the ball a lot more in this game, but passing wise still struggled. He threw 17 of 37 for 194 yards, 2 touchdowns and an interception. While he made some good throws, he still made some bad throws and threw into tight spots which forced a turnover. (more…)

Michigan Wolverines came off a bye week, they suffered a loss to MSU last game and I’m happy to see that the bye week got them focused and ready to play Purdue. They literally destroyed the Boilermakers. While I’m happy about the win; technically it’s to be expected. Purdue is the weaker team and U of M is supposed to slaughter them. I was impressed with how UM established the running game without QB Denard Robinson leading them in rushing. I have been constantly saying UM has good enough running backs to the point where Denard Robinson should not be the leading rusher every game with more carries than the Running Backs combined. Michigan inconsistent game play finally cost the them. I have constantly been saying the Wolverines were to highly rank and that they aren’t as good as their record says. Now first let me say, this was not an upset, MSU is technically the better team as far as players, playmakers, defense, etc. The Spartans were supposed to win the game, so I don’t consider this an upset.

Offensively U of M struggled throughout the entire game and it started with QB Denard Robinson who threw 9 of 24. He was only able to complete 37% of his passes. Robinson can’t continue to have these horrible passer ratings if U of M is going to be truly successful. He was also shut down running wise, which proves that he can’t always make plays on the ground either. Denard Robinson is not a true QB. He is not accurate. He doesn’t have strong arm and doesn’t make good decisions. The rest of UM’s running game was also nonexistent as well. Back up QB Devin Gardner even received an opportunity to show his skills and did decent, he did however miss a couple wide open receivers but I believe that is due to his lack of playing time in live game situations. Michigan defeated Minnesota 58 to 0 but I’m not impressed with the win, I am however impressed with how they won. First off, rushing wise I was very impressed, they had a total of 363 yards rushing . They were spread very well between all the running backs and even the quarterbacks. The star of the game was RB Vincent Smith, who had touchdown score by rushing, passing and receiving; he is the first FBS running back to do that since C.J. Spiller (Clemson) on 11/14/09. (more…)

Michigan defeated San Diego State 28 to 7. Now to some that is an impressive win. Now while I am proud that they won there are still so many issues that I have with Michigan. I’ll start with the good first, I was impressed RB Vincent Smith and Fitzgerald Toussaint, and they combined for 116 rushing yards. QB Denard Robinson ended the game with 200 rushing yards and 3 rushing TDs. Michigan offensive line did a good job as well. Defensively I was impressed with the fact they held San Diego State to 124 rushing yards. Michigan defense also forced 3 fumbles and recovered all 3 fumbles. Michigan did a great job of pressuring QB Ryan Lindley who struggled the entire game. However I was disappointed that Michigan defense allowed San Diego State to get into their territory. San Diego State had a total of 13 possessions and was able to get into Michigan territory 10 times out of those 13 possessions. To be honest Michigan probably would have lost this game if San Diego State had capitalized and scored. Michigan must play better defense. Offensively, once again QB Denard Robinson had a great game when it came to rushing yards and rushing TDs, but passing wise he still struggled. He threw for 8 of 16 for only 88 passing yards and 2 interceptions. That is unacceptable, he needs to be able to pass accurately and consistently pass against better defenses. Lastly offensively we scored 21 points in the first half, but we didn’t score again until late in the 4th quarter. Michigan begins BIG TEN play next week against Minnesota; hopefully Michigan will improve on their turnovers and etc., because they can’t play like this against BIG TEN teams and expect to win.
