Andre Drummond is the newest addition to the Detroit Pistons. Drummond is only 18 years old and with his size and agility can partner with Greg Monroe to be a dynamic big man tandem for the Pistons. Along with Point Guard Brandon Knight this young core should help the Pistons back to more glory days. Drummond will where number 1.

We are watching the growth of a next great Pistons Point Guard. Brandon Knight has come alive 27 games into his rookie season. It just so happen to be against a pretty hot Milwaukee Bucks team with a young star pushing the point in Brandon Jennings. I have been waiting for Knight to explode but the Jennings match-up may have push him to an effort of 26 point (career high) 7 assist with no turnovers. (more…)

Well now that the NBA is back so are the Detroit Pistons. Pitons General Manager Joe Dumars has a new boss in owner Tom Gores and things could look a little different around the Palace, right? Sorry, the Prince is still here for another 4 years. I want to make this very clear when it comes to the Pistons. We as Detroit Pistons fans are very spoiled. The team played in 6 straight Eastern Conference Finals, had back to back Finals appearances and an NBA title. All that and Joe Dumars did it on a budget. (more…)

When the tears ran rampantly down the cheeks of Dennis Rodman during his Hall of Fame Speech last weekend, the Detroit/Chicago side in me figuratively produced enough water to fill up both Lakes, Erie and Michigan.

I was torn and at a crossroads! The situation was inevitable yet I hadn’t come to grips with the decision. The Hall of Fame caught me off guard. Which city should I pledge my allegiance, highlights and identity for Dennis Rodman? Detroit or Chicago? I’m one of the few people in the world who can say he lived in Detroit and Chicago during the years Rodman played for those teams. Rats!!!! Or in this case, Worms!!!!!!!!

It seems like it was yesterday I was on Steel and Puritan on a cold December night, watching channel 50 and hearing the voice of the Pistons George Blaha, commenstrate: “Worm cleans the glass and dishes off to the Captain (Isiah Thomas).

Make no mistake Dennis Rodman, the NBA player, was born in Detroit, MI on October 31, 1986. He was raised by his father Chuck Daly, and groomed by his brothers Zeke, Joe, Spider, Buddha, Microwave, Lamb, and Dantley. Collectively they became the “Bad Boys.” (more…)

It may sound like I’m the guy who gets the downloaded message tardily in those phone commercials currently airing on television, but I need to vent about what has recently transpired in the sports world of Detroit.

PISTONS

First of all, who is Lawrence Frank? Oh yes, he’s the guy that was last seen leading, or misleading New Jersey to an 0-16 record before the Nets inevitably fired him.

I don’t know what kind of “brotherly rivalry” that was forged between the players of the ‘Bad Boys’ era, but clearly Joe Dumars is set and content with one-upping or competing with his former teammates, because there is NO reason Isiah Thomas or Bill Laimbeer shouldn’t be coaching the home town!

A marriage between the lowly, cellar dwelling Pistons, and one of their heroes of yesteryear as their coach is just the thing that would breathe life and revive the city as a whole with anticipation and optimism. (more…)

There are questions at every level within the Pistons organization. Starting at owner. Karen Davidson has been in negotiations with potential buyers for some time due to the death of the late William “Bill” Davidson who past away 2years ago. Mr. Davidson was not a big spender but he never hesitated to pull the trigger on a worthwhile investment for his Detroit Pistons. If you look at Davidson’s history, he never signed big money free agents. He trusted his management  to make decision as far as the draft, mid level free agents and trades.

Ownership is the first question. Karen Davidson is selling the Detroit Pistons along with the whole Palace Sports & Entertainment. Problem number one is the 2 cannot be separated in this deal. This narrows down the possible buyers or investors from even looking at the deal. Who knows who may want to just buy the Pistons. Problem one leads to problem two. The rest of the NBA doesn’t stop making transactions as far as players. Current General Manager Joe Dumars can’t spend any extra money or make deals that may include trading or signing big money players. (more…)
