Headsets In The Hot-seats

We will take a look around the NFL to see what coaches are in the hot-seat.

Mike Singletary

San Francisco 49ers Record 4-7

This team was expected to easily win the NFC West. Singletary has been head coach for a full 2 years now. He may have a little time to get things going but they should not be struggling in this weak division. His seat is heating up. Singletary still has a shot at winning the division and still making the playoffs but it may be with a losing record or at best .500.

Josh McDaniel

Denver Broncos Record 3-8

After starting his head coaching carrier 6-0 things haven’t gone well since. Now the cheating scandals have began to surface. Drafting Tim Tebow in the first round was not what this team needed. There is a lot going on in Denver that has not equaled wins in yet another weak division in the AFC West.

John Fox

Carolina Panthers Record 1-10

John Fox took the Panthers to the Super Bowl in the 2003. They lost the New England Patriots, but just like the previous Super Bowl winning coach John Gruden who was fired six seasons after bringing a Championship to Tampa Bay, Fox may be on his way out. The state of the franchise is unstable because of the market that they are in. They don’t want to spend a whole lot of money. Notably letting Julius Peppers go and not spending the money that was saved by not resigning him. The team may move to L.A. Who knows?

Jeff Fisher

Tennessee Titans Record 5-6

Fisher is the longest tenured coach in the NFL today. He like John Fox has been on the losing end of a Super Bowl. This wouldn’t be a big deal but the Jeff Fisher has not received a contract extension. Vince Young is supposed to be the “future” of the Titans but time is running out for him to show maturity. This has not helped Fisher at all. It just seems to me like there may be a time for a change. Out of all the coaches on this list Jeff Fisher is most likely to get another head coaching job to fill a hole with one of these teams.

Marvin Lewis

Cincinnati Bengals Record 2-9

Personally I think this guy has had this job much too long. There have been too many ups and downs on the two main sides of the football. Marvin Lewis was brought in because what he did for the Baltimore defense. There isn’t any consistency. Carson Palmer has had his ups and downs but the offense has also been unstable. This hot-seat is on fire.

Jason Garrett & Leslie Frazier

Dallas Cowboys Record Under Garrett 2-1

Minnesota Vikings Record Under Frazier 1-0

These two coaches have received the keys to franchises that were expected to compete for division titles and go deep into the playoffs. No one knows what could happen between now and the end of the season with these interim head coaches. For Minnesota quarterback is a question mark for the future.
