Spartans Beats A Good Ranked Team…First Time For Everything

Michigan State finally won a big game and not only that, they beat a good ranked opponent. Michigan didn’t count… So, congratulations. Now as great of a game as that was, I still saw things about MSU that concern me. I’ll start off with the good; I was once again impressed with QB Kirk Cousins, who I believe was an X Factor in this game. He threw 22 of 31 for 290 yards and 3 touchdowns. He had impressive game, which was very influential in his team winning. MSU’s running game was decent in that game; they combined for 109 yards, which is not up to their usual standard but nonetheless, still a decent running game.

Most of all I was impressed with MSU’s defense. That defense is probably the key reason MSU wins the game. They had 2 interceptions picking off a Top 15 NCAA QB in Russell Wilson. However Spartans defense did allow Wisconsin to run for a total of 220 yards, which still showed me that they struggle to stop the run. I also want to state that technically Wisconsin gave up this game, they gave the Spartans a breath of life and MSU took advantage. I honestly believe if that game had gone into overtime, Wisconsin would have pulled out the win. I mean let’s get real, I will give credit to WR Keith Nichol for making a great play but honestly it was an awareness catch. It wasn’t a great catch or a tough catch. The Wisconsin defender knocked the ball right to him instead of down to the ground. But hey, I give credit to where credit is due, MSU pulled out a great win and I will give them credit, but they still have so much to improve on and they still haven’t lived up to the great hype, I mean technically they should be undefeated, but they couldn’t beat Notre Dame who is extremely weak this year…I’m just saying.

Sparty’s next game is against Nebraska and let me say that should probably be just as tough as the Wisconsin game. Nebraska is known for slow starts but once they get going, they normally can’t be stopped. Nebraska is just as equally ranked as State. They both have one lost, but at least Nebraska lost to a worthy team in Wisconsin. MSU lost to weaker team in Notre Dame…but nonetheless this will definitely be a good game and another great challenge for MSU.
